Abuk BOL, the founder of TWICH, came to Melbourne in 2009 as a refugee. with her seven kids. Already a seamstress Abuk discovered The Social Studio, who supported her to do her Certificate 4 in Clothing Production.
With a group of Sudanese women, Abuk set up TWICH Women’s Sewing Collective. The women make clothes, crafts, and provide accredited training in sewing skills to other new arrivals.
Familiar with the isolation common to the experience of refugees trying to find their feet in an unfamiliar country Abuk has fostered a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for women from many different backgrounds. We love supporting their work and products at Space2b.
